Flavoured water

Posted by Ami-Diabetic on March 2, 2011 at 10:07 PM

I went to work for a meeting today and thought that I would pop into the shop for a bottle of water on the way.  I usually get plain water but decided to get the flavoured stuff today.

I ended the meeting with little left in the bottle and realised that I was bursting for the bathroom and was very thirsty.  I checked the bottle... lo and behold there was sugar in there!  I have always bought  the one with that nasty aspartame in and took it for granted that this would also be.

I tested my blood glucose when I got home and it was running at 482.4 mg/dl 26.8mmol/l, so I had to have extra insulin to get it back down.

Think that I will stick to plain water next time!

Plain water is definitely helps to maintain blood sugar levels rather than drinking flavored water, Diabetic patients have to cultivate the habit of keeping or carrying a water bottle with them always.

I always but always buy plain water, as there are no chemicals, apart from the natural minerals etc. When buying flavoured water, you will usually find it to be sweetend with aspartame etc, which is really not good for you as you think.

I have stuck to plain water ever since that incident, its better for you as long as they don't pump it full of fluoride that is...
